High fashion photography helps capture an audience and we're gushing over Harper's BAZAAR editorial "Deep Freeze." Published in the September issue, the magazine won the Lucie Award for Fashion Layout of the year for the second year in a row.

The Lucie Awards honor the greatest achievements in photography. The awards started in 2003, as part of the Lucie Foundation's mission to honor master photographers, discover and cultivate emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of photography worldwide.

Deep Freeze

BAZAAR is known for pushing the boundaries in fashion photography, and in this case, photographer Txema Yeste gave us chills. Model Aya Jones looked like an ice queen dressed in Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and Valentino for the high-drama outerwear shoot.

The location

Shooting in Blackcomb Glacier near Whistler, Canada is no easy feat. The crew and all the clothing were flown in via helicopter, the only way to access the ice caves. This glacier is it's own, protected provincial park, and at 7,347 feet, it's the perfect backdrop for capturing this award-winning spread.

To give you an idea of what the crew went through behind the scenes, all the fashion had to be weighed to balance the helicopter's load. Due to the dangerous conditions (we're talking about a melting glacier here), the team was escorted by a local expert.

Look 1 - Deep Freeze

Elegance on ice. Aya looks stunning in a bold Givenchy jacket and dress. Show off some bling in an Alanui balaclava that features rhinestone embellishments and beaded embroidery.

Look 2 - Glacier Deep1

When the temperature is this cold, you want to be cozy but keep it fashion. BAZAAR featured this Moncler Pierpaolo Piccioli jacket and skirt. The collection was created by Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli to reinterpret the outdoor clothing company's down jackets. It debuted at Milan Fashion Week.

Look 3 - Polar Cap

This is such a romantic winter look. We love the simplicity of the Michael Kors Collection coat mixed with a 4 Moncler Simone Rocha Balaclava. The cashmere-blend yarn balaclava with a strand of faux pearls is part of the Moncler Genius project, which features eight collections from twelve design partners.

Look 4 - Arctic Blast

One look at this picture, and you begin to understand the great lengths the crew went through to make this fashion layout possible. Aya wears a Chanel cape, earrings, and gloves inside an ice cave on the glacier.

Look 5 - Ice Queen

Ready to enter the ice palace, Aya wears an Oscar de la Renta gown, a Wolford bodysuit, and a Christian Siriano headpiece with a Gucci choker. Can we take a minute to appreciate these gloves, though?

Look 6 - Snow Maiden

We're getting major Frozen vibes with this look. The light blue Dolce & Gabbana robe on the snowy landscape is absolute perfection.
